How CCB is calculated
Maximum benefit: $7,787/yr per child under 6 and $6,570/yr per child aged 6–17 (July 2025 – June 2026). The benefit is reduced by a percentage of your AFNI above $36,502, with a steeper rate for AFNI above $79,087. The reduction rate scales with the number of children.
What happens if AFNI changes
CCB is set in July based on your prior-year tax return. If your income drops mid-year (job loss, parental leave), you can apply for a faster recalculation by submitting form RC66 plus current pay stubs. If income rises, CRA will adjust on the next July recalculation; in some cases it claws back overpayment.
Provincial / territorial top-ups
Most provinces add a child benefit on top of CCB — Ontario Child Benefit, BC Family Benefit, Alberta Child and Family Benefit, etc. These are not included in this calculator but are paid alongside CCB and use the same AFNI from your tax return.
