Clients who buy a qualifying individual life insurance product from Unity Life or Foresters become Foresters™ members and can enjoy the value-added benefits of Foresters™ membership at no additional cost. No additional application is required.

Eligible Unity Life and Foresters clients can access a variety of member rewards and benefits not usually available from traditional insurance companies. These member benefits extend the value of their purchase beyond life insurance or financial services to help them and their families get even more out of life.

Critical Illness Member Benefit

If the insured or their immediate family member is diagnosed with certain critical illnesses, such as life threatening cancer, a heart attack, a stroke, or multiple sclerosis, they may be eligible to receive a financial grant of $4,000 from Foresters to help with their recovery.

Competitive Scholarship Member Benefit

Eligible members and their dependent children can apply for a competitive scholarship1 to pursue higher learning with Foresters financial support. Up to 350 Competitive Scholarships are awarded each year to eligible Foresters and Unity Life members and policyholders and their dependent children. It's another way we help our clients enjoy a bright future!

Orphan Scholarship Member Benefit

The Orphan Scholarship benefit potentially provides a different scholarship opportunity in the unfortunate event that one parent or both parents are deceased. Children of a deceased member may be eligible for a renewable scholarship of up to $6,000 per year (for up to 4 years), to cover higher learning tuition and maintenance.

Young Family Member Benefit

Protecting the security of children is one of our most important concerns. In the event of the death of both parents, this benefit will pay $300 per month for each member's child, payable to the child’s legal guardian until the child’s 18th birthday.

Terminal Illness Member Benefit

An interest-free loan is available to any insured member who becomes terminally ill. The loan can be for up to 75% of the total Net Face Amount of the Foresters or Unity Life insurance policy. The loan will be repaid from the insurance proceeds upon the insured's death.

Unity Life products purchased before April 1st, 2008 do not qualify for Foresters membership.

1 Foresters Scholarship Program is a competition for scholarships, of $2,000 per year, for up to 4 years, open to eligible applicants meeting the eligibility requirements. Scholarship recipients will be selected from the completed applications submitted before the deadline date. This program is administered by the Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada.
