A Proud Tradition
- Founded in 1898, Unity Life of Canada, a Foresters Company, originated as the Insurance Department of the Subsidiary High Court of the Ancient Order of Foresters.
- In 1934, it was incorporated as a mutual company and subsequently changed its name to Toronto Mutual Life Insurance Company in 1939.
- In 2002, Toronto Mutual Life amalgamated with its subsidiary, The Western Life Assurance Company, changing its name to Unity Life of Canada.
- In 2008, Unity Life of Canada underwent a sponsored demutualization, converting from a mutual life insurance company to a stock life insurance company wholly owned by Foresters™, one of North America’s largest fraternal benefit organizations.
Today, in addition to focusing on its Traditional, Pre-need and Specialty insurance lines, Unity Life is Foresters exclusive marketing representative in the Canadian market. Foresters products for Canadians are available through Unity Life’s network of independent insurance brokers and Managing General Agents across Canada.
